J/30 Class Association Forums J/30 Forum The Smack MORC Revival

Is anyone following the MORC revival thread over on SA? I have heard that along with the J/29, the J/30 was a forminable MORC racer. Has anyone raced under this rule and do you have an old cert?

I think it was a great rule as it demanded smaller boats that were ocean capable. Lately if you thought of doing a an offshore race on a 30 footer people look at you like you are crazy because it is so "small and slow" (or you are excluded completely because of arbitrarily created stability rules).

Sea Biscuit, a past NA champ, had the logo on their mainsail and did a couple MORC Internationals when they were held in Annapolis. I'll see if I can get you some info.
