On the way to winning the Chesapeake High Point Championship, Bebop really "showed it" to the Annapolis fleet in the brisk winds of Fall -- winning all five races in the first weekend of Fall Series. In the shifty Westerly winds, it took a remarkable blend of smart sailing and solid crew work to repeatedly overcome some bad breaks and wierd shifts to get to the front every race.

Well done to the classy Beboppers.

The highlight of the series was sailing back to the dock and being greeted with applause from our competition on Better Mousetrap. That and a couple tasty beverages at Chez Mousie looking down on the Annapolis Sailboat show.

During the Fall Series we tried to be patient in the shifty and puffy westerly. It was nerve racking to be on the outside of a 20 degree lift. But as Stevie B once told me, 'Never tack to consolidate a loss'. The ebb current was a factor downwind especially in the deep water near the leeward gate. We held high to be sure we were not sailing slowly, dead downwind trying to get around.

Between Annapolis Race Week, the NA's and AYC's Fall Series we saw more races with 8-18 knots of breeze than I can recall having in a whole season.
