I have a '79 with the vintage spreader bars with an open end, how do you keep these locked in?

Rig Rite is useless and offered no advice.

Brett - you want to get the spreader bar fix if your boat has not been retrofitted. The J/30 rig has a known problem where the spreaders can become detached and the rig will fail. Check the following links:

Brett

Are are you talking about the inboard or outboard ends ?

The outboard endsnormally have a stainless plate that is screwed in which locks the shrouds in place

Outboard, mine are groved in a half circle for the shrounds but open, I am going to use a wire seizing wrap and then purchase the plates or end caps that lock the shrouds into place
