Hello Forum
My main as most mains has two holes for Halyard attachment. I always use the forward hole. Why are there 2 and when should I be using the aft hole?

OK try this twisted line of logic.

if you were really a nutcase racer and just couldn't stand having a "heavy" snapshackle at the lifting end of the Main Halyard ... duh ... you would run the main halyard through the hole close to the mast and tie it through the back hole.

That also might let you get the sail up to the black band or at least above the black band if no one is looking.

That way you also won't have to use so much cunningham once the Dacron starts to stretch out of shape.

can I twist things or what?

couple of weeks ago one of the crew used the back hole ... it really kills the shape of the sail ... AND SURPRISINGLY ... another member of the crew looking up at the head noticed it was clipped to the back hole. DUH... Am I training them or what. I didn't notice it. double duh. But then they asked "do you want to correct it?" ... like I want to sail around like a numb nuts.
