Hello all. After a few years of racing our own slow boat and on other peoples faster boats, it is time to get ourselves some more sailing performance. Having noticed the J30's out there and what they can do the J30 is at the top of my list for our next boat.
Are there any boats available in the area?

There are 2 very under used J-30s in Everett. Garuda - former charter boat out of Seattle that has not left dock after an engine failure. South side main marina about c or d docks. Very nice set up boat - needs racing sails. Mystique - former top sailing boat out of Seattle that has only been used for weekend cruises twice a year. Very stock and needs new sails. South side main marina on P dock. BoB is on South side Q dock.
If you want me to drop off your info on those boats, I can walk the docks and leave your name and offer to consider to buy. Drop me a direct email at jageck@earthlink.net
I got one other j30 sold out of Everett a couple years ago. That is one way to keep my class racing competition down!

You have to PROMISE to race it . We always seem to be one boat short of our own class in a few of the bigger races. You just missed a honey of a J/30 that was for sale in Nanaimo. I don't know where it went.

Yes we need another J30 on the line for our own class.
There are always great options for boats. Vampire will be for sale in three years now. Had to push the date back as I bought a new house. I love my J30 but I need a big blue water boat for retirement.
There are a few things to watch for when buying a J
I would not be to concerned about getting one with great sails. Better to go with a good hull and all the gear done right. You will be getting sails soon any way when you want to be at the top of the game.
That said many J30s are very competitive on old sails. I know I would never say Tony is slow with his old main and #1
So email if you have questions I'm always around. Just been moving so some I have been a bit tardy here.
Next reginal J30 distance races are. Vendee saltspring (double handed)
And the great Northern Century 100 race and that's also double handed. We normaly have 4 J30s in that.
Scott you should be done and home by then. You in?

I do promise to race it. My better looking (and perhaps better sailing) half would not have it any other way. We have been at many of the larger regattas for the last couple of years (Thetis, Saltspring, Swiftsure, Van Isl 360)crewing on Cu Na Mara (C&C 115) or dilligaf (Ross 930).
It is unfortunate I have entered the J30 market a few months late for the one in Nanaimo. I think I spotted it at the dock in Schooner Cove when I was there for Race Around the Rocks a couple weeks ago. Sadly it was not racing.

Are any of the local J30's coming to SIN Regatta in Nanaimo later this month? It would be nice to meet and have a look at your boats.

Funny I know those boats very well. Scott and I did van isle on different boats last time. Scott was on red heather and I was on Cinco de Mayo.
I can't make SIN this year but it's on the list for next year. Now that the boat is in Victoria we will be doing more racing.
Your always welcome to come down and see the boat. We will be in maple bay during the vendee. You could probably see 4 j30s then. There is one that cals maple bay home and then Radiant heat, limelight and Vampire will be there.
Don't rush and get the right boat. But your picking a great boat. Fast safe and fun.
Great cruiser with a good turn of speed at a great price. It has it all but hey I'm biased.
See you on the dock. I am always easy to find as I have the silly Vampire stuff on. And if any one needs branding for there boat just talk to me.

Slight correction: I was on Rubato for the 360 last year. Red Heather for Vic Maui this year.
I will be at N100. Been waiting for it all year.
(P.S. Some old sails are definitely good; My headsails and spinnakers are 1982)

Rubato....blue Hanse, right? We saw it frequently from Cu Na Mara in the Van Isl, much to our dismay.
So far there seems to only be a few J30's available out there, largely project boats. I dont mind a little work, but i wouldn't mind a cream puff either.
