Results are posted for Leukemia Cup. Only Rhapsody started and finished. Very big winds - saw 33 kts over the deck. Falcon attempted to get to the starting area from Barrington but the big winds and tide made it impossible for them to get to the starting area in time for the race so they withdrew. Rhapsody raced with the #3 and reefed main and elected not to fly the spinnaker. Rhapsody finished in front of a J/92s that started 8 minutes ahead sailing the same course. Here is a picture of Rhapsody taken from the J/92s during the 1st upwind leg. Preliminary results are posted here http://NYYC.org/gui/nyyc1/sailingevents/2012LeukemiaCuppreliminaryresults6-2-12at18101.pdf

Bill:
I took my contractor's protractor level and calculated that once the skewed camera angle for the water was taken into account, you had a 45% angle of heel. Mmmmm. You must have been rippin' off the wind.
Congratulations to you for showing up on the race course. Glad you survived.

Thanks Bob - we were greater than 45 degrees at times. It was tiring at the helm for a full day. The shifts were such that if you feathered too high you had a good chance of getting caught in an autotack. I had one autotack all day that we recovered from quickly. Too bad I cant store up that extra turn for a future penalty :-)
Off the wind we reached 11.4 kts with reefed main and blade. Unfortunately the upwind speed was really impacted by the chop and current.
Once we finished, Mark Rotsky took the helm on the way home. We dropped the jib to motor sail up wind using the reefed main. After yesterday the boat was a swimming pool below decks. I'm glad I took off the cushions the day before. Since we are at a slip, I run a dehumidifier. I'm heading back to the boat today to bring the cushions back.
