As a reminder, please let your local board member know thoughts about the advertisement rule. At the next BOG meeting scheduled to occur on Thursday, October 18th, we will vote on this subject. If we do nothing, advertisement is allowed, so I will be preparing a proposed rule to specifically disallow advertisement. ISAF and US Sailing will allow advertisement by default with the new rules staring in 2013. I will sponsor an online "mock vote" (BOG members only) next week to see where the fleets stands on this subject. So again, please let your local board member know thoughts. Cheers, David Erwin

Further to Dave's post above, I am providing a link to the post that highlighted the rules changes in 2009. This describes the transitional period that ends when the new ISAF rules go into effect in 2013.

Being an OWNER driven class, the owners can vote, but personally I believe that the banning of Advertising on sails in this class remain in effect for ONE DESIGN RULES.
Just my two cents.

Thanks for the $.02. Can you share the reasons for your thoughts?
For those that do not know, Neil works at the North Sails loft in New Orleans.

During the BOG meeting scheduled on 18 October 2012, a vote will be taken so the rules reflect either case 1 (Advertising Allowed), or case 2 (Advertising Restricted). Advertising restricted is basically the same thing the J/30 Class has now. This link is the ISAF Regulation 20 reference. Case 1 - Advertising Allowed:No changes required in class rules. Advertising becomes permissive on 1 January 2013 when the ISAF transitional period expires on 31 December 2012. Case 2 - Advertising Restricted (similar to current rules):The following paragraphs are added at the end of the Class Rules: 6.10 Advertising 6.10.1 Class rules prohibit the display of advertising, except as may be required by the Organizing Authority for class events in accordance with ISAF regulation 20.4.1. 6.10.2 Manufacturer's and Sailmaker's marks shall always be permitted in accordance with ISAF regulation 20.7
