How is everyone doing in the blizzard?

Over half of RI lost power. We lost power at midnight Friday and regained it about 16.5 hours later. The main power feed to Aquidneck Island (Newport, Middletown & Portsmouth) was knocked out, and most of Eastern RI will be without power until Monday.

The winds were recorded at 90mph on the Newport Bridge during the storm on Saturday. The governor closed all roads in the state except for emergency vehicles Friday night and reopened them 4pm Saturday. There are 8 foot snow drifts on some of the highways and exit ramps with the some snowplows getting stuck.

Temps are running low teens in our area with about 20" snow accumulation near the coast at our house and up to 36" towards Boston. Fortunately when the power went out, we have a gas fireplace that kept the house just above 50 degrees upstairs and almost 60 degrees in the family room.

Here is a picture of the snow in the front of my house on this nice, cold, sunny Sunday morning. Notice the drifts halfway up the front door on my neighbors house to the right.

Up the Bay in Bristol, we also got hammered although not as badly as site of the NA, Barrington.
We lost power Friday night and it wasn't returned until Sunday night. When the outside temp dropped to 10 above, it hit 41 above in our kitchen.
The winds were so fierce on Friday night it sounded like someone was outside with a cannon shooting ice balls at the house. There was a constant thudding and shuddering on the east wall that faces the water. Even in summer and fall hurricanes it wasn't this bad.

I'll attempt to include a photo or two.
