I reached out to Warren (owner of the J/29 fractional rig mast) to see if he's interested in selling. Others weigh in as to it's suitability. (Don't think he'll want much for it, so even as an interim solution it may be useful).

There is a local J29 (same Kenyon Fraction Rig) that is for sale for $6,000. The rig is about 9 years old. I understand the rig would work but you may need to raise to boom mounting plate to a higher position. The pulpit is original. I would be interested in splitting the cost of buying the boat to part out, although the rig is the most valuable item.

Many thanks Michael. We'll see what happens. The x factor right now is the insurer's salvage price. Will keep you posted.

And, forbes (PEI ? wow.. you guys make a fine oyster.) many thanks for the thought. Yours is a fairly complicated solution, and I think I have a stern pulpit lined up (I hope)... Not sure what will work out for us, given the salvage price issue.

There was a J-30 available for salvage price of $4,500 thru and insurance company. It was located in southern Michigan near the Ohio boarder. Apparently a broker in Mass. now has claim to it. It has mast/boom pulpits, etc. Last I talked to the broker he was planning on moving it to Mass. I don't know if that has been done yet or whether it is still in Michigan.
If anyone is interested, let me know - I can get the broker's number and also find out where it currently resides.
