I just changed out my 2qm15 with a 2ym15 ..... so what idle RPM are you guys using? I have 1000 RPM idle on the engine now, but it seems high to me.

Herb, You can download the 2YM15 manual from the J/30 website at this link. Section 2. of the service manual specifies 850 +/-25 RPM for the no load idle speed. That's the same I use on my 2GM.

Thanks mucho ... several hours more tomorrow AM to clean up. Plan on 3 weeks in the Perlas to know my new engine ... seeing my old rusting 2qm15 sitting on the beach after 34 years was a bit sad .... man, that baby was something else .... those old boys at Yanmar definitely know how to manufacture a diesel engine.

The engine total cost came to $7K .... installation and some parts came in at around $1500.
