Boat hull 184, vintage 1979
The prop is off balance, and the shaft got bent this fall. So upgrading to larger shaft and better prop once strut repaired.

The class rules read ".3 Propeller, shaft and strut shall be in accordance with the standard installation with a propeller diameter of not less than 356mm."

I am going to presume that the key item here is the 14" min size, but want to also know whether or not I can go to a feathering prop, as opposed to simple folding. I am also presuming that increasing shaft diameter is NOT an issue.

Any comments please? (before I spend the dollars)

Thanks

Roy

The early boats were sold with 3/4" shafts. Due to vibration, they changed the spec to 1" shafts in later boats. There is no issue with upgrading to a 1" shaft.

On the feathering prop issue, as far as I know it's not allowable under one-design rules. For an official ruling, you have to check with the class measurer Larry Christy. His email is alchristy@comcast.net

I thought the upgrade was to a 7/8 inch shaft not one inch?
