Hi again all,
When I purchased my J30, it didn't have the table. Having gone a season, I actually like having the salon open, makes handling sales, and access so much easier, plus stowing the table when not in use would be a bit of a pain. However, there are times when you need a table, and I've been looking at having a folding table, sort of like this design:

Has anyone done something like this in their J30. Do you think the wall/bulkhead separating the salon from the head/vberth would be able to support something like this? Looking forward to any and all thoughts as I slowly get "Wings" back into shape.

Cheers,

Sean

Sean,

Friends of mine have a table like that on a Catalina 30 and it is very handy. I believe the J/30 bulkhead is strong enough to support it.

You know, this is a really cool idea. I love the idea of a more open salon.

Jim, Where did you get it from? Do you have any pics on how it looks?

Yes please, or just a few pics just so I can see dimensions, etc. The table itself isn't that complicated, I am pretty interested in the leg/stand in terms of support and stability. Thanks I really appreciate this.

it's a great idea, I'm getting my hands on some honduran mahogany tomorrow and I think this will be the first project out of the shop.

I have a folding table, but only partially. One "wing folds down out of the way to allow access to the head, but it is connected to the bulkhead and small so it is not hanging out there in the middle of the salon

A friend of mine has a similar table on his boat, but instead of the folding leg he has a pair of cables that clip to the overhead so there's nothing to kick under the table. I'm planning on building one for Koesh, but won't get around to it 'til this winter. I'll attach some pics to this thread when I do,
