I have just started shopping for a new boat. I am a keen club racer in Northeastern Ontario but my my wife likes to be comfortable when cruising. It is time to upgrade from the Tanzer 26 we are currently enjoying and a J30 looks to fit the bill nicely.
At this stage I am looking for advice on the pros and cons of used J30's (things to look for when buying) and any lines on good, well cared for boats in the Great lakes area. I have reviewed a few of the listings here but hope there are some more.

RDale,
Hullabaloo (Hull #443) is going on the market. I sent you an e-mail with some information. Let me know if you do not receive it. I'll be posting a listing on the J/30 website relatively soon (within the next couple of weeks). If anyone else is interested, please feel free to contact me before the listing is posted.
Thanks!
Tom Heinrich

Unfortunately, no. It is the older cockpit design.

There are two newer versions currently listed for sale on Yachtworld.com. Both look to be in very clean condition.

RDale,
J/30 #507 is for sale in Marion, MA. I am one of the ownership group. If you'd like to know more, please reach out to me. I will email you as well. We've really enjoyed the boat. Our group is moving on to other interests with individual boats so we are eager to find her a good new owner.

Leprechaun is a good boat but not the greatest for cruising. I have cruised with my teenagers around eastern Long Island. They were comfortable.
