A question from a competitor at the 2016 NAs in Annapolis is asking about a rule interpretation regarding the use of Eelsnot. This would be very similar to the use of applying Teflon polish to a bottom of foils.

Please let us know opinions here in this posting thread. Larry Christy our Chief Measurer will study and recommend.

Based on the Eelsnot product literature there is no evidence that the product ejects or releases a substance that improves the character of the flow of water inside the boundary layer. See US Sailing Rule 53 Skin Friction.

So Eelsnot is approved for use.
