hello. What do you figure is the work it needs? Any pictures? I am out in nova scotia so getting it here is a long haul, I assume it fits on a j29 trailer and there are lots of those around here.

Probably more info than you want A friend bought the boat in Florida (2014). We brought it north and used it as a trial horse for the 2015 Nationals Boat was floated again in 2016 and used sparingly in PHRF Wednesday night buoy races and for practice against Wildcat Boat has been on the hard since October of 2016 The keel and rudder have both been faired The boom has been reinforced The chain plates have been replaced with longer ones The previous owner says that he put a new bottom on it a couple of years ago (I guess before 2014) The standing rigging is new in 2015 Needs new halyards Main and working jib are in good shape Spinnaker is OK. There may be 2, but not sure There may be a #2 though I do not recall it's condition (we used one of my old #1's when we sailed it as a trial horse and for PHRF races) It is the old style cockpit and interior It comes with a cradle - if you want it Motor runs well
The interior is pretty rough. The entire inside needs a good cleaning, sanding a varnishing. It has a teak and holly sole. The removable cabin sole piece that sits over the keel has been cut in two (don't know why). Regardless, it was pieced back together, but pretty crudely Instruments should all be replaced. Wiring for add on's is pretty crudely done There appears to be some wet spots in the hull and deck. There appears to have been some core work done Rudder may be water saturated -though not sure. Thought about using the rudder on Wildcat because it has been faired but was concerned about the potential of water in it. We have not weighed it Several of the stanchion bases need to be reinforced We've done no repairs to it since bringing it north other than sanding and painting the bottom It appears that the previous owner, or owners) was/were not very handy both electrically and mechanically. Thus, any maintenance and upgrades, in my opinion, were not done well
I have trailered my J/30 on a J/29 trailer so I assume another similar trailer will work A thought; the boat is float-able and sails. We could float it and sail it to Leamington, Canada. You could pick it up there if that helps To trailer it in the US will require permits for highways and separate permits for turnpikes (Ohio and New York). Also, Penn requires $1.0m liability insurance to get a permit
We have a trailer that will haul the boat and cradle along with a tow vehicle. We might be able to bring it to you for cost (fuel, permits, travel expenses-room and meals) .

If you are parting the boat out, I am interested in an upper and lower lifeline. Looking for the continuous ones, from bow to stern without the gate.

I am looking for a J30 to add to the Chesapeake Fleet. How bad are the hull soft spots and how much work has to be done to begin racing, with the idea of repairing problems over the next few years? Do you have a rough idea of the cost to transport to the Washington DC/Annapolis area? Thanks!

The boat was recently sold . The owner floated it in LaSalle Mi. and sailed it away. It is currently being sailed on the Detroit River near Windsor Ontario
