J/30 Class Association Forums J/30 Forum One Design Class Rules Lifeline Question

I find the lower lifeline quite uncomfortable for the driver, especially on the newer cockpit designed 30s. I noticed, on another J30 that they do not attach the lower lifeline to the aft pushpits, but the lower lifeline goes from the aft most stanchion, down to the fitting on the deck where the spinnaker block is attached. Looks like a great mod and more comfortable system, but wanted to make sure this was compliant with OD rules before I did the same. Also, is the 4: or less lashing requirement still in effect? Thanks.

Probably something the class measurer can weigh in on, but here is what the class rules state:

5.4.2 Prohibited Alterations or Additions:

5.4.2.2 Lifeline stanchions which project outside a vertical line from the gunwale, lifelines attached to other than standard location on bow pulpit, and stern rail, or lifeline droop exceeding 125 mm with a 5 kg weight suspended between the pulpit and first stanchion.

Thanks. Larry what are your thoughts? Seems this was allowed in previous OD events and would love to revise my lifelines in the same way.
