Can it be used with a roller furling? I can't seem to tell from the pictures.

Not unless the battens are removed - horizontal battens won't roll unless they are the special flexible type designed for it. That wouldn't be standard for a J/30 sail.

You should be able to replace the battens with the flexible kind for a roller....

No kidding!? I've been running a 155 quantum...because it came with the boat. We're pretty new to sailing so I'm not sure exactly what this sail would do for me...taper control on a foresail sounds pretty cool though. Any thoughts?

So, the sail would be extremely useful to you in true winds over say, the 10-12 knots range or if you're short handed. Instead of rolling up the 155 and then not being able to "point as high" or "sail closer to the wind", you could put this sail on before you left the dock and the boat would just be a much easier to sail boat. If you're out for a day sail on a J/30 and you have guest aboard that aren't real comfortable with a lot of heel, this sail would help to keep the boat a little more manageable. I've used this size sail often when my kids where little and my wife and I would take them and their friends out for a sail, even in 6-10 knots of breeze....just less sail area up front, and since the J/30 is such a mainsail driven boat, it made the boat much more stable.....hope that helps, it's a great sail at a GREAT price....and needs a new home!!

I'm interested and trying to work out funding. I've got to figure out how much I would have to have into adapting it for the roller furling. It sounds like what I'm trying to do though.
