I’m considering flush mounting a chart plotter display on the exterior aft cabin starboard bulkhead. Does anyone have any comments/recommendations on this plan? Thanks Dan #409

Hi Dan,
I love the idea. So much so, I mounted two. One on each side, stereo. Trashed the original data marine instruments and went with B&G Vulcan 7" touch mfd's.

I can reach them from the rail with a tiller extension in hand one hand.
Perfect position to keep in view while looking ahead.
I had to rebuild the bulkhead, filling in the old instrument holes. Then cutting new holes for the displays.

Hi Greg, looks like a great installation. I considered just 2 mfds but opted for two Triton2 displays in the upper old Data Marine holes and plan on just one mfd on starboard. I was concerned with filling in the old holes. Thanks Dan #409

That's a good compromise Dan. I had 3 data marine displays plus a Garmin chart plotter and a compass. The bulkhead looked like Swiss cheese when I removed them. Glassing and filling the old holes and feathering in the gelcoat was a job. I think it took a month of Sundays.
Greg
