CAN106 has a new boom tube, fresh from RigRite. As I move the Gooseneck over from the old boom, I see that no less that 5 holes were drilled in to it - one empty, two with 1/4" rivets and 2 with a stainless bolt right across the midsection.
I have a chance to drill the minimum number of holes in the new boom tube....question is: what was the original fastener used for the Gooseneck?

I think the original is the two holes with the bolt through the middle. Same as your old boom, mine has three additional holes and uses screws instead of rivets. I ended up putting in inserts (like helicoils but stainless) because the threads were stripped.

They may have changed the setup over the production run. Mondial is Hull 215 and the boom extrusion originally had 2 screws which fit into tapped holes in the gooseneck fitting. Over time as the boom worked against the gooseneck, the holes became oversized. I drilled out the holes and substituted a long bolt (and nylok nut) which goes across the boom. This has never worked loose.

Looks like I had a combination of both: started with at least two holes for machine screws and ended with a through bolt.
May as well start where I will ultimately end up...through bolt it is.
Thanks....
