Ok, I am getting tired of staining my toe rails. What replacement options exist?

Good question. J24s have white plastic toe rails as an option. And I've heard of at least one J30 with metal toe rails.

I think you should replace the teak with lead toerails. Lead won't rust, is easy to bend, and readly available. If you need help installing lead rails, call me - I'll be glad to help. ;-)

I think another suggestion might be depleted uranium. It's heavier than lead, requires no varnishing ever, and just the rumor of it's use is sure to get you plenty of room at the starting line and around the marks:-)

depleted uranium.. Humm ... Good idea. An added bonus to the use of depleted uranium is that it probably glows in the dark - a safety feature the Coast Guard would probably endorse.

I have replaced the toe rails w/ 1-1/4inch T track segemented at several stanchions to allow the cars to come off. I do not attach any thing to the toe rail during 1 design but I use them under phrf.
The crew dosent complain as much about hiking over them as the regular teak rails. The fordeck area will be replaced with the white plastic at the next paint job.

George, is Lead used in those new sheep skin, or shark skin sails!!!
