I knew there was another J/30 beside Bill Wallace's in the 1979 fastnet, but never knew it's story. So, I was happy to find this...

Does anyone know of a way to reach Andy to obtain permission to reprint on J30.org?

Thanks,
David Erwin

Hi Dave,

You can use the story for no charge as long as it is unchanged and you credit www.bangthecorner.com

Please treat the story with the greatest respect, 18 people died competing
in the 1979 Fastnet.

If you need any more info I would be glad to help out.

I own the boat concerned! Now called Judicious. She is moored near Plymouth in UK and called Judicious. She is still very sound, we race her regularly with some success under 'IRC' handicap system - No others to race one design here! We won class 6 in CORK week two years ago and are going again this year. Judicious is now 25 years old and still has her original mast she now has a new engine though! We purchased her in Ireland about none years ago.

Rumor has it that Team Judicious will be making the trip from the UK this July. Perhaps we should call the regatta, J/30 Worlds!
