like a j boat, but not a lot of chatter on this site recently, perhaps this a dead class? i suppose this would make any boats for sale a little cheaper. maybe a benateau or some other FRENCH boat would be better! your opinions welcomed!

No the class is not dead. It's 25+ years old and it runs pretty smoothly so there is not a lot of chatter about it. However there is plenty of traffic on the other forums. Feel free to post your questions there.

I've observed over the past few years that the chatter on these forums falls off a bit in the summer because everyone is out sailing! I know we were - Blue Meanie posted a 1-1-2-5-1 line to take a very competitive PHRF fleet win in the Red Grant Regatta at Raritan Yacht Club this weekend. Full results at www.redgrant.org

Glory,
There are plenty of actively raced J/30s around. The New Orleans fleet is rebuilding nicely after the devestation of Katrina.
If you have reasonable questions to ask, I'm sure you'll get responses in kind. If you're looking to stir a pot, there's plenty of other forums for that activity.

I think the class is made up of REALLY good people. So shouldn't we guide those who stir things up toward a French made boat?
