I've been giving thought to fixing up the water system on my boat so that it will be usable. (This is only my 5th season with the boat, and each year it slipped the to do list.... ;-) My water system is fairly simple; not pressurized and no water heater, just the two sinks. I've wanted to remove the water tank to clean it and replace certain broken fittings.

It is held in place by a tab of fiberglass molded to the hull. I have disconnected the hoses and cut most of the tab off, but still, no amount of shifting and manipulating it has allowed me to remove it through the access hole in the main settee.

Did TPI put the tank in first and build the settee over it? Is it physically impossible to remove the tank without cutting into the settee? Or is there some secret geometry that I'm just not getting? Has anyone successfully removed their water tank?

I was able to remove the tank by cutting the FRP tabbing away from the hull and then removing the tank through the cutout in the settee. The tank in our boat is plastic. Once the bilges were re painted and the tank cleaned the tank was re-installed and the fiberglass tabbing reglassed to the hull.

I had the same issue last year. Could not figure out how to get them out. I gave up and bought 4 inch inspection ports with clear caps and installed them. I can now stick my arm into the tank and clean it as well as it is much easier to fill and see how much water is in the tank. They were supper easy to install. Defender Item # 900340.
