Anyone know the size of the packing material for the stuffing box on a J30? I noticed all types of sizes. ie 1/4,3/8 etc. Also how many rings of packing are in the gland?
Thanks!

I believe my packing is 1/4", although that's just from memory. I use three rings.

There are different sized shafts on different boats, so packing may vary as well.

Anyone know the correct diameter of packing material for the original stuffing box on a 3/4" shaft?

I've got a PYI dripless seal, so don't have packing. Check out this old thread, as it references 1/4" packing you roll yourself.
