This guy is pretty detailed in the pics and info he has compiled regarding alot of projects on his sailboat. I particularly found his "stanchion base" topic well writen. I plan on strengthening and reinforcing my backing plates for the stanchion/pulpits, the same way.
He uses backing plates and then injects thickened epoxy into the void left by the fact that the area below decks is half cored/half hull to deck seam. Our stanchions rest in a similar area( two bolts through core, two bolts through thinner solid glass). I don't want my stanchion bases to flex, ever.
