Hi!

Took ownership of Hull 397 last week! Very excited. Anyway has anyone had good luck with a particlar Bimini top to cover the cockpit?

I have an over-the-boom canopy that's nice when anchored. I'm not sure how a bimini would work with the mainsheet down the middle? Does anyone have a spray dodger they like?

I also have an over-the-boom canopy. It's made by Harken. Can't sail with it up but it is nice at the dock or at anchor as Shunter mentioned.

I've heard of biminis being fitted to a J30, they're either very small towards the back of the cockpit or the main has been cut down, lopping a few feet off the leach. Neither choice seems very good. I just wear a big floppy hat. A canopy or stamoid awning is definitely the way to go at anchor. I haven't got one yet because all I do is race, but when we start cruising more, here's the one I'm looking at:

Hey, thanks for the info. I could not think of how a Bimini would work, but there seems to be some pretty creative people on the list. The Shade Tree top looks very good.

Boat is going in the water tomorrow! Sanded, painted, polished and waxed on Sat. She is looking sweet! Will be sailing this weekend provided the weather holds.
