Velocity Girl #278 is in the water and ready for racing on Lake Ontario, my only problem is my jib sheets seem way too long. What's the standard length...if there is one?

If you check this link, you'll see the rigging info: http://www.j30.org/html/technical/articles/rigging_info.html

I use 45 Feet of 9/16" Sta-Set on #1 sheets. This is larger diameter than most use, but it works well with the self tailers on my primary winches. Too long and they get in the way. Too short and you have a problem running the sheets over the spinnaker pole when it is up. You may be looking at your #3 sheets - they are shorter.

Thanks for the update. This is my first season with Velocity Girl and as it turns out I only have the one set of sheets that came with the boat. They are 1/2 inch sta-set X and are nearly 55 feet long each. I may end up getting a new set for the #1 and keeping these for my #3. Thanks for the info.

Get large diameter jib sheets, easier to handle and sticker on those old winches. By the time you have the genny trimmed all the way in there is only a short length of line locaed so double braid like Sta-set is sufficient. No need to have a pile of expensive high tech line dangling in the cockpit
