I have a J30 about 1978 and need to replace the plastic insert in the mast track. - It takes the bolt rope instead of using sliders and therefore goes the whole length of the mast - does anyone know where I can get this track ?

Hope you can help

Thanks
Ian

I'm not sure what you're referring to. I do not have a plastic insert, nor have I heard of one that fits inside the luff groove on the mast. I have seen systems like Strong Track, but those are for slides outside of the groove, not for boltropes.

I can't picture it either. I put slides on my crusing main so I can handle it alone... I have to take the gate block off to run my boltrope up on the racing main...no plastic there at all?

The plastic insert Ian is referring to are in the photos below.

Ian, if this were my boat, I would simply remove the insert and use the mast's sail track as is.
