J/30 Class Association Forums J/30 Forum The Boat, Sails and Equipment Salon Tables

My boat did not have any salon tables when I bought it. I have secured some tables and the attached hinges, but do not have any other hardware, nor a clue how the tables were originally supported when open. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Joe

Joe- If you are talking about the side folding tables to the aft of the settees, then they have a u shaped crome metal bar that holds them up. When raised this bar is at a 45 degree angle. The arm folds up under the tables when you want them in down position. There is a white plastic piece(maybe "star board" or similar) that it kind of clips into to keep them in raised position. The tables themsleves also have a hinge at the top. Hope this helps.

The two posts that hold up the table each have two holes in them. Two brackets extending between the two posts hang free when the table is closed, but they provide diagonal support to each half of the table when open.

It'll probably take me two weeks, but, I can take a few good photos of the underside of the table.

Thanks to both of you for the information. I am talking about the small tables at the end of the settees. My boat did not come with the big center table, which is one of the reasons the "end tables" become more significant. I am still having a hard time conceptualizing how it works. I did look at the pictures but could not see how the tables might be supported. Thank you very much for your assistance, it is greatly appreciated. Joe

There's a metal rod mounted to the fiberglass under the table. It flips up and the forward edge of the table rests on it. Not great with ASCII art, but I'll try:
