I need to confirm my spinn pole length, similar to the recent 155 % vs 163 % genoa question.

Do we measure the pole from tip to tip ?

What is the "class" length, the correct measurement ?

At this point, I am unsure about my boat's configuration. There is a chance I am racing with an original length pole. I "think" I remember being told I have a 163% but now I am unsure. I just confirmed I have a puny chute, now I wonder about all the rest of it too.

I'd expect the pole would be one of two lengths.

The J/30's J measurement is 11.5'. The class standard pole is J+1, so I'd expect a J/30 to have a 12.5' pole.

A J+1 pole can incur a PHRF penalty (i.e. 3 seconds), so it's possible that a previous owner who only races PHRF might have shortened the pole to 11.5'.

The J30 Class pole is 12.5 feet measured from tip to tip. That is the outside edge of each end fitting and not the jaws.
