We're going to put out the call soon for J/30 Class Association annual membership and dues. Dave Erwin developed the online registration process last year and it worked very well. This allowed people to update their registration via the web, print out the completed form and send the annual dues in with a check.

There is a good chance that we'll be able to accept dues payment this year via credit card. Payment could be done on this forum using PayPal. It means that you wouldn't need to send anything through the mail and the entire registration process could be done online. Note that you don't need a PayPal account to pay via PayPal - you can use your credit card.

We'd also offer the traditional paper check via snail mail route for those who prefer to do it that way. Please indicate in the poll how you prefer to pay your annual dues. The poll will be active until 21 January and you can only vote once per registered forum user name (please don't game the system).

If you have any comments on the class registration and dues process, please reply to this thread.
Annual Dues Payment Preference
single choice
Prefer to pay by traditional check via snail mail (0%, 0 Votes)
Prefer to pay online with PayPal (100%, 7 Votes)
I don't plan on being a class member for 2009 so I don't care (we wish you did!) (0%, 0 Votes)
Total Votes: 7
Voting on this poll ends: 01/21/09 05:30 PM

Based on the poll response, we'll incorporate PayPal so people can use credit cards as the preferred method to pay class dues. Paper check via snail mail will also be accepted.

As an added benefit, once we cut this in, it will be available to use for J/30 Class event registration (e.g. NA Championship).

Dave Erwin & I will be working on the updates to the web site to accommodate this. Stay tuned for details.

4 February 2009 - J/30 Class Registration Status Update
The new J/30 Class registration/renewal and dues process has been updated and is currently being tested by 10 members we've contacted separately. Here are some of the things we've incorporated:
  • Everyone does an online update of their class database record
  • Pay by Credit Card via PayPal (no paper required), or
  • Pay by Check and mail it in with printed invoice
  • For Fleets that collect National Dues, print invoice and pay respective district treasurer both National & District dues
  • Pay voluntary "Associate Membership" dues for crew (owner can pay, or link can be emailed to an associate/crew)
  • Pay multiple co-owners with single transaction

The testing should complete by the end of the week and we'll make any needed updates based on feedback from those testing. The call for J/30 Class Association 2009 membership renewal should be emailed out to everyone by 11 February.

As usual with me, I do not know how to vote electronically. I will pay by check if I can and electronically if I must but I will not complain. What is important here is to make every effort to accomodate the folks who are nice enough to be doing the scut work to keep the class the viable concern that it is - whatever makes it easier for them is what I would prefer to do. Thanks for the chance to express a preference.

New & Improved 2009 Class Registration with online Dues Payment is Ready!

We had a successful beta test of the new class membership process that offers either online payments with a credit card via PayPal, or by paper check sent through the mail. Based on the successful testing, we've released this for the entire class. Everyone in the class database with an email address was sent the 2009 J/30 Class membership update request on 10 February. If you did not receive the email, please let me know.

The computer challenged people can still print out the membership form on the class web site at this link and send that in per the directions on the form.

Please support the J/30 Class Association expenses by registering as members and paying the small amount requested for dues. The following provides the class membership fee structure.

Owners & Co-owners: $50.00 per person
Associate Members (Crew and Friends of the J/30 Class): $25.00 per person

Class members with dues paid are indicated with a check mark to the left of their name in the class database at this link. Your record should be updated within a day of receiving the online dues payment, and whenever the check arrives for those using the regular mail.
