I assumed I could fabricate a new handle for my sliding hatch when the old teak one fell apart. I was wrong.
I recently noticed on someones blog that they glassed over the old handle and made a new one.

What I need Is a template of the Handle. I want to make a new one but rather than start from scratch maybe someone has an old one laying around and can trace the perimeter and email it to me or something. A link to a replacement would prove most useful also. I expect this to be a shot in the dark but i'll give it a chance anyway. I aprreciate everyones help and time.

mango, i used the remains of the old teak handle and molded a new one using it, glass tape and epoxy, not having an original to start with i would tape 2" masking tape over the edge of the hatch slide and start building the new handle by layering tape and epoxy to the required thickness and rough profile finishing it by sanding, epoxy fairing compound and awlgrip, it should last forever and require zero maintenance, it is my intention to get rid of all the teak on the boat including the toe rails which will be replaced with R1002 from Barbour plastics at $3.75/ft, the hatchboards will also be painted eventually, miscellaneous wood trim can be replaced with king starboard plastic
