I used the #3 genoa for the first time last night and set the sheets inside the shrouds
When the wind shifted and we had to play out the sail the sail-shape was affected by the sheet / shroud....curling the bottom

Was I correct in my set-up or should the sheets be lead back another way?

They should be set on the inner blocks for up wind but when we reach/ with the #3 we either use the Genoa tracks or put a snatch block on a pad eye that is just aft of the stanchion closest to the chain plates. If we take it back to the Genoa tracks we have a 6 inch strop that we put on at the tack to improve the sheeting angle.

I assume you used the track on the cabin top inboard of the shrouds and pass the sheets through the blocks on that. When close hauled, the clew is almost to the block on this track. Off the wind, the shape is less than optimal. I have sometimes rigged blocks on the stanchion base for extended reaches with the #3 in order to get better sail shape.

I know this is two years too late.
Why not use 4 sheets , two per side. one lead inboard and the second outboard of the shrouds to the genoa track. Mission accomplished.

on long tack we run the lazy sheet over to the outside track and attach the twing to control position.
