J/30 Class Association Forums J/30 Forum Events and Scheduling FREE STORAGE FOR THE WINTER!!!

As an incentive for participation at the 2005 NAs, the New Orleans Yacht Club and Trinity Yachts are offering free storage for out of town J/30s for the winter. We not only want to have a fun 2005 NAs but hope to host a J/30 Class at the 2006 Terra Nova Key West Race Week.

The 2005 NAs is tentatively scheduled to occur this time next year. As a query, what time do people in Annapolis, Chicago, upper East coast and other areas start storing J/30s for the winter? Would October 20-23 be late enough in the year to host the NA Championship?

Our last regatta for the season on Western Long Island Sound just finished Sunday, Oct 24th. Most years there are only 4 weekends in Oct, so it usually finishes up the last weekend of Oct. However, if I were able to make it to Nawlins' I would probaly skip that regatta anyway.

Also, as far as KWRW goes, it would probably be a one or the other or none condition for me. Tough to take so many weeks off for sailing for me and the crew.

I think we're planning on hiring someone to deliver Zephyr to Key West via the Gulf. All of the boats from New Orleans sailing to Key West leave the same time and make it a race.

The Chicago racing scene is done by the 3rd week in September. This year it was September 26th.

Will NOYC still host the 2006 Mid-Winter Championship or will this be held somewhere else?

If I am planning on the 2005 NA and 2006 Key West I would be interested in knowing about the 2006 Mid-Winter Regatta as well.

NOYC would love to host the 2006 Midwinters. However, I would like to ask the class for input including considering Terra Nova KWRW the official 2006 Mid Winters.

Blue Meanie would be very interested in the whole NA's-Key West-Mid winters thing. A November regatta date might be a little easier to pull off, although late October would be OK too.

Ummm, my J30 is a bit out of reach of N.O unless I'm really ready to see the Turks and Caicos...and she gets put away during hurricane season...doesn't seem any safer storage in N.O than Tortola. Anybody got an extra J30 laying around? Or maybe would like to spin two crews together? My crew makes a habit of traipsing around to race J-30s... maybe the connections are better than to the islands? Key West could be great with the right planning....
