I believe that hulls for these boats are actually made in Poland and transfered to France for build out. Makes sense from $ point of view and the Polish have a long tradition of boat building.

while this thread looks broken ... I think we are talking about the J97. which reminds me of a souped up beneteau. [cabin insides]
At newport show the non skid deck surface was the most agressive i have seen.
Meanwhile J95 #2 scheduled to race Spin against us in Avow Hospice Race next Sat. more on that subsequently.

J/95 was picked as Boat of the Year and J/97 as Best Club Racer in Sailing World's Jan/Feb 2010 issue. It will be interesting to see how this plays out compared to the J/29 and J/30 back in the 1980's and if one, the other or both catches on. J/95 has a longer waterline length and weighs 2,600 lbs less so it may be the faster of the two. The J/97 has cruising amenities, but perplexes me by having 5'11" of headroom. Isn't Rod was a bit taller than that?

I agree. I think these Js may be too pricey. I did not understand the headroom on the 97. The 95 would be a cool boat to cruise on the Chesapeake Bay.
