Guys You probably think I'm out of my mind looking at race dates for 2010 but Pat Dwight and myself were talking yesterday about the 2010 N/A in Marblehead etc and I realize unless we get some level racing in next summer we are going to get our butts kicked So let me throw out some options 1) Bill, Mark and John you can join us on Tuesday night at Barrington 6 boats will give us our own start and we are running windward leeward's not government marks I'm sure we can work out dockage etc That would give us 8 plus races before we head to Marblehead I'm sure we can work out moorings/ docks for the out of towner's 2) We can pick some weekend dates for a summer series I've taken a look at weekends and would like to throw out June, 5, 26th and July 24th plus August 28th for a summer series I throw these dates and thoughts now so there can be no excuses like "vacation" "the kids" "weddings" etc Cheers Falcon

Charlie,
Interesting idea about Tuesday nights. What time do you get started? I would not expect to be able to hit them all, but a few might be doable. I'm guessing that at best that would be the same for the others, but we might be able to select a few dates to all target for better odds. We can offer the same on Wednesday nights, but the courses may be less fair with our screwy surroundings unless we have a nice southwesterly for a W-L race.
Weekends are always an issue, but again, a few should be doable. At least it will give us a change to gage ourselves, which we didn't have this year. (Oh yeah, that's because I didn't show up)
Keep thinking. Only 10 months 'till the 2010 NA's. I'm going to start working on my mother-ship.

Charlie, I like the idea, but the logistics from Newport don't support the Tuesday night series for us to travel to the North end of the bay. We will have Vee Jay 2 at the south end of the bay next year too. I'm going to copy Bruce Underhill (Breezin) and Clifford Kurz (simply sailing) since they also have boats in Jamestown. Maybe we could get a "North Bay" and "South Bay" group for respective race nights, then some combined weekend tune ups.

Vee Jay 2 should be available for sat/sun tune ups June and July here in NPT. in addition to Newport tues/wed. Barrington is too much of a hike, but I might be talked into it a couple of times if I can come up a day earlier and leave the day after, and the weather looks good. May or May not do Marblehead ... also contingent on getting crew working by end of July ... this is a new program for Vee Jay 2 and I am starting at zero crew here.

SNE Boats - come to the NOODs in Marblehead - then stay over for the NA's - 6 days of OD in less than 3 weeks.

Last night we had an NBYA planning meeting to discuss the potential regatta dates for 2010. Falcon, Nemesis & Rhapsody were represented there. The dates are not yet firm, but I'll put up the plan as it stands now. The potential 2010 dates for designated SNE One Design events are: 5 June - RI Leukemia Cup Regatta 26 19 June - NBYA Governors Cup ( Moved 1 week earlier due to Twenty Hundred Cuttyhunk conflict) 17 24 July - NBYA Topgun Regatta Moved 1 week later due to EGYC conflict) 6-8 Aug - J/30 North Americans in Marblehead The chart below is very preliminary. The BOTY column are those events that are considered in the NBYA Boat of the Year competition sponsored by GMT Composites.
