Winds on Saturday were reported as 18-26 with 30 degree shifts with some pretty big puffs, YIKES !!! Six J/30s raced with 78 degree temperature. Zephyr V2.0 was first to reach the finish line, but thought they were sailing a WL3X course which was announced at the skippers meeting. We all agreed to watch for the dark blue flag next time. Jalapeno finished 1st, Black Magic second and ZV2 third after unwinding the string! LOL The second race was a match race between Jalapeno and Zephyr V2.0 until a failed spinnaker douce on ZV2. Jalapeno finished 1st, ZV2 2nd. At the third race ZV2 forced Jalapeno off the line - both started 1 minute late. ZV2 blew out the head sail, Jalapeno finished 1st. On Sunday, the winds were 10-15 and it was a bit colder. Team Zephyr had won the party the night before, so some cob webs were definiately on board. :>) ZV2 won the race 4 by a few boat lengths. Jalapeno won race 5 as ZV2 didn't see the Charlie flag and sailed to the wrong mark. The winds shifted 50 degrees to the right then shifted 50 degress back to the left, so ZV2 sailed to where they thought the mark should have been. It was a beat for Jalapeno who again won the final race.

We would have sailed with seven J30s, but couldn't find enough crew. Everyone is hoping to get to 10 in the fleet by the end of next year. We wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR. Please come sail with us next yeat at Mardi Gras and Sugar Bowl Regattas!
