You guys convinced me to do this myself, and I removed the primary and the cabin-top two-speed winches and brought them home this weekend.
I've not done this job before, but sounds like its just:
-soak then brush/scrub in kerosene to remove dirt and old grease
-replace springs and inspect for other bad parts
-lightly grease and reassemble (no grease on the palls)
Russ - do you have a West Marine part number on those springs?
Hopefully I won't find anything else that needs replacing - from reading other posts it sounds like the Australian supplier of parts is not something I'd want to deal with if I can avoid it.
