Running the engine does not necessarily heat the engine up. It needs to be put under load. If you doubled up the dock lines and ran the engine for a couple of minutes turning the prop at 1500 rpm, that would be sufficient. At 50 degrees the oil is fairly "thick".

I actually cool down the engine by running it with no load 1200 RPM for about 5 minutes.
