My transducer for depth is mounted forward of keel. The access is under the star. side of v-berth.It is quite accessable here and works ok heeled to port or starboard. My instruments are mounted in bulkhead on either side of hatch.Manufacturers or marine supply stores may have brackets to mount above companionway.lots of boats have them there.
