Hello J30 Sailors,

Just purchased a J30, hull 337 and looking at some advice and instruction. I have never seen the mainsail/boom set up on the boat. I just put the mainsail on and a number of questions immediately came apparent. I have been sifting through images but cannot find a close up of these particular areas.

Questions:

1. How the cunningham system configured and attached at both the sail and the boom/mast base? What is the best known configuration?
2. How the tack is attached the boom/mast? What is the best known configuation?
3. Confirmation of the line setup at the clew?

If anyone has images of these particular areas or can direct me to the correct place to find this information, it would be greatly appreciated!

If images are needed of what I am looking at then let me know and I can take some pictures and post a link to the images.

Thanks for your help,
Michael

1. How the cunningham system configured and attached at both the sail and the boom/mast base? What is the best known configuration?
There is a good picture on how Rhapsody does it here. We use a stainless steel cunningham hook that goes through a grommet on the main about 1 foot above the tack. The bottom of the cunngingham is attached to a plate riveted at the mast just above the deck where the block for the boom vang adjustment is also attached.

Others have run the cunningham back so it can be controlled by the companionway.

2. How the tack is attached the boom/mast? What is the best known configuration?
There should be a pin that is inserted between the two steel plates through the main tack grommet. See picture below (pin with ring on it).

3. Confirmation of the line setup at the clew?
There is a good description of the outhaul setup in this link.

Thank you for this information, it certainly has put me in the right direction. I will update with images for confirmation of setup.
