J/30 Class Association Forums J/30 Forum The Boat, Sails and Equipment Spreader identification

Could someone identify these spreaders? Is this the Hall Spars fix? Some other modification?

There doesn't seem to be a bracket, though clearly the spreaders are bolted to some sort of internal structure (see shadow under tape). I'm hoping it's a through-bar retrofit that eliminates the stock spreader/mast failure issue.

What do you suppose the bail on the front of the mast base is used for? I haven't noticed other J/30s with this:

Looks exactly like my Hall Spar spreaders. The tape is covering a pair of clevis & cotter pins which pass through the internal bar. It is designed for a tight fit, which holds it tight - so much so that it's a good idea to have a wood screw clamp to squeeze the mast a bit when putting it all together.

The bail looks like a convenient place to clip your spare halyards to when racing or doing a sail change. It doesn't look strong enough to run a foreguy to for the spin pole.

Per Chris's reply, it appears you have the spreader bar fix installed.

I thinking it is a foreguy anchor point. Just high enough to allow the hatch to be open for a spin hoist or drop without interfering with the guy.

The new J/22s at Sail Newport last summer all blew out the vang attachment to the boom and replaced it with a similar unit ... they are stronger than they appear.
