I noticed 1 of the 4 bolts in my outboard upper rudder plate (fastened to the transom)has come loose. The other 3 appear to be solid. Does anyone have an idea for a quick fix? Or, has anyone experienced this and think I might have a bigger problem waiting to happen? I am mildly concerned that the natural play with the rudder pins could loosen the other 3 tight bolts by the end of the season. With a dozen races left I'd prefer not to haul at this point. Any ideas would be welcome.

Why not get down inside with a wrench & simply tighten all the bolts on both plates ?
While you are at it, put a dab of goo in the bolt holes for good measure, to seal out the juices.

The others are already tight, the loose one comes directly out. I suppose I should pop the yanmar instrument panel out for a real look at what's behind there. A crumbling mess at the mooring is better than being rudderless halfway around the race course. Thanks. Originally posted by 311:
