There are some suggested crew guides floating around on the web. I've grabbed a few and consolidated them on a spreadsheet that has tabs for a crew with 4, 5, 6, or 7 people. I'm interested in feedback from other J/30 sailors on suggestions to update this. It should help so Rhapsody doesn't need to hold "sailing school" while cruising out every Tuesday night for a beer can race. The crew guide is available to download at this link: http://j30.us/files/Rhapsody/Rhapsody-Crew-Guide.xls

I'll take any of the All American Dream Team that wants to have fun at the Marblehead NOODs this year. They can hold sailing school for me!

Bob Crumley from #326 provided some comments that I've incorporated. Specifically

1. I have found it critical to push the pole FORWARD before reattaching to the mast after a jibe. If there is the slightest push outward (especially in a breeze), the bowman will struggle to make the pole and things can get ugly. So the only language we use is "shove it forward".

2. Crew always needs to be ready to control a broach. You don't want to be fumbling to open the halyard jammer when water is pouring in the companionway hatch!

The link above contains the updates.

Dave thanks for the vote of confidence, but didn't you and Scott already have the Dream Team? Does it look like you'll be getting the team back together on a new boat?

BTW if it's just a bunch of old J/30 skippers, I'd take Larry up on the bow before John or Carl, and if Scott's not driving, give me John White and let Dorsey bring the beer and pork BBQ.
