The LIS district championship will be at RYC (Perth Amboy, NJ) June 30 & July 1. This regatta will be part of a new 4 regatta series for the district.
For boats traveling to RYC it is about 10 hours from CPYC if you catch the current correctly - if you decide to trailer the boat we have a 7.5 ton hoist at the club with enough water to launch +/-2 hours from high tide. Guest moorings/trailer storage will be available on a first come basis. RYC will run the annual Red Grant regatta the week after the districts and we will get an OD start if we have 5 boats for that event.
Racing will be on Raritan Bay south of Staten Island in an area outside of commercial shipping - in most wind direction we can set 2 mile legs if necessary.
If there is an interest for loaner boats we can look into that possibility but we need to know soon.
The official NOR will be sent out/posted in a few weeks - if you have questions plese contact me bengt@fast.net or W908-222-3797

Hi All!
The NOR for this event was sent out to district members this week - if you didn't get it just e-mail me and I will forward a copy. Keep in mind trailering to this event is is easy - we have our own hoist and room for trailers. Bengt Johansson

I'd like to second the invitation down to Raritan for this regatta! We'd like to get as large a fleet as possible to keep the district momentum going. The trip down the East River is great sightseeing, and we will surely have some good tight racing.

Please join us.

Hi All!
This is really sad and a disgrace for the whole LIS J/30 district!
As of today we have 3 entries for the District Championship next weekend - one of these boats will withdraw unless we get to a total of 6 boats.
I don't want to make a "parody" of OD racing and the District Championship by running a match racing regatta with Blue Meanie (we do that too often in PHRF events). Both Steve and I refuse to put our names on the trophy unless we have an event worth the name. This years plaque would read "Cancelled no interest".
We have set a deadline of 3 pm on Monday 6/25 to cancel the regatta - that's when Steve and I have to start calling off the arrangements and start apologizing to the club and all volunteers we have called on.
We should also keep in mind that by not participating in the Districts (forcing a cancellation) the new "District series" fell flat on its face.
If you change your minds and want to race next weekend - let me know before Monday bengt@fast.net or 908-222-3797./Bengt Johansson

This is so dissapointing. We seemed to be developing a bit of momentum in this region, with almost half the boats at this years Cedar Point one design regatta travelling to participate. We have a highly competitive bunch of boats in our district-it seems a shame that we can't establish a more regular set of events with boats from all areas travelling from time to time.

The travel distance between the various clubs should not be a big problem for anyone-it's an easy one day trip.

Why can't we make this work?

The 2007 LIS District Championship scheduled at RYC 6/30 & 7/1 is now cancelled due to lack of interest!
I hope next years venue will fair better and we get a chance to defend the championship.
