Ok now lets look at #526 cutouts. if that is 3/4 balsa core with two fiberglass skins ... those cut outs would be at least 1 inch deep. But they don't look like 1 in. deep to me.

#526 is pretty close to the end of the production of J30,s and they must have decided not to core that bulkhead. #448 has 3/4 inch balsa core in those bulkheads as I had to seal up some compass cut-outs that had exposed core when I bought the boat. (That is, the previous owner made larger cut-outs and slapped in the new compasses without sealing the newly exposed core.)

Roger, roger ... will confrim on #505 later today. The bulkhead is cored but seems to be 3/8ths.

... As we stumble across differences between "later" and "earlier" editions.

And there were a few half and halfs as well with Fuzzy Wuzzy in the middle ... but wait ... perhaps that name reflects the "edition"?

Checked #505 this afternoon ... core on 500 series seems to be 1/4 in. for that cabin bulkhead ... which I think is also what they used for the straight sides of the cockpit.

Thought I would post some pictures of these Beckson ports i was talking about.

I think its a really good easy solution - as you can see, the clips for my new Tacktick stuff just screwed right on (repainting the interior, which was only half done in the pictures.
