Most of the boats I've seen have the deck pumpout fitting near the bow, close to the holding tank. No matter where you run the hose, Geoff is correct on heating it. I installed mine when it was 20 degrees outside to keep the odor down, and residual "stuff" solid. The heat gun did the trick on making the hose flexible.
