For a short period of time back in the late 1990's you could get one for a reasonable price. An Annapolis boat supplied a faired rudder to TPI (or possibly Waterline) to create a new mold since the originals were supposedly lost. Since then it has been extremely difficult and/or expensive. I purchased a used rudder from a class member around this time to keep as a spare. Unfortunately, nice guy that I am, I FedExed it to a desperate class member, out of the area. He was in contention for his season championship and had broken his rudder. Offered it as a loaner or he could buy it for what I paid plus shipping. Never got the rudder back and waited a long time to get paid. Wish now that I had kept it as a fleet loaner. Moral--keep your spare parts and only lend them to reputable friends.
