Conundrum: Did you try putting the sleeve to on the inside of the boom? Oh, sorry, I misunderstood the picture--I thought the black was the insert and white the boom. Looks like you figured it out and ignored my inane comment.
We have a similar sleeve inside our boom though not the one from Rig-Rite, just something a rigger put together. Attached with about a dozen rivets and has been great thought.
