I lost a boom 3 years ago. When I removed the hardware to set up the new tube, The only bad corrosion was under the vang attachment, where it broke. All the other fittings had lanocoat under them. It kept out the corrosion between stainless and aluminium. By the way, This boat has been in salt water all of its life.
